What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was designed to reduce distress associated with traumatic memories. When EMDR therapy treatmen is successful, the distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. EMDR therapy involves the client attending to emotionally disturbing material in brief episodes while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus.

Studies show that clients who engage in EMDR therapy can experience benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to accomplish. Severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal, and EMDR is one of the best solutions to address it.
