Overview

Accessibility & Equal Access Statement

Miranda Counseling is committed to providing therapy services and professional training in a manner that is welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to all individuals. We comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and applicable Kansas state accessibility laws. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

We believe that mental-health care and professional education must be available to every qualified person, and we work proactively to remove barriers — physical, communication-based, sensory, and digital — that could limit participation.

Our Physical Location

Our office is located at 5401 College Blvd, Suite 201, Leawood, KS 66211. The building offers:

If you have questions about the physical accessibility of our office before your visit, please contact us at (913) 295-9800 and we will be glad to walk you through what to expect or arrange a pre-visit tour.

Accommodations for Therapy Clients

We welcome clients of all abilities and will make reasonable accommodations to ensure full and equitable participation in therapy. Available accommodations include, but are not limited to:

To request an accommodation, please contact your clinician directly or call our main office at (913) 295-9800 at least 48 hours before your appointment when possible. We will engage in an interactive, confidential conversation to identify the accommodation that best supports your participation. Requests made with less notice will still be honored to the greatest extent possible.

Accommodations for Professional Training Participants

In accordance with EMDRIA Approved Training policy and the Americans with Disabilities Act, Miranda Counseling ensures that our EMDR, Play Therapy, and other professional trainings — whether in-person or remote — are accessible to participants with disabilities.

Available training accommodations include, but are not limited to:

To request a training accommodation, please email info@mirandacounseling.com or call (913) 295-9800 as early as possible — ideally at the time of registration, and no later than three (3) weeks before the training start date. Late requests will be accommodated to the fullest extent reasonably possible. All accommodation requests are confidential and will not affect your training eligibility, grading, or certification.

Digital Accessibility

We strive to ensure our website, registration forms, telehealth platform, and electronic learning materials meet or work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. This includes:

If you encounter a barrier on this website or in any of our digital materials, please notify us at (913) 295-9800 or info@mirandacounseling.com and describe the issue. We will respond within five (5) business days and work to provide the information you need in an accessible format.

Language Access

If English is not your preferred language, please let us know in advance and we will work with you to identify a clinician who speaks your language, arrange interpreter services where feasible, or provide a referral to a culturally and linguistically appropriate provider.

Grievance Procedure

If you believe you have been denied a reasonable accommodation, or if you have a concern about access to our services or trainings, you may file a confidential grievance with our practice owner:

Elizabeth Miranda, M.S., LCMFT, LPC, RPT-S Miranda Counseling 5401 College Blvd, Suite 201 Leawood, KS 66211 Phone: (913) 295-9800 Email: info@mirandacounseling.com

If you believe your rights under the ADA have been violated, you also have the right to file a complaint with:

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time checklist. We welcome feedback from clients, trainees, and members of the public on how we can do better. Please share suggestions by phone, email, or by speaking directly with your clinician or training facilitator.
